Drivers, Skagit win NorthSound Racing Awards

Skagit Speedway drivers and members of the event team were winners Thursday night at the NorthSound 1380 Racing Radio Awards Show in Everett. Hornet Champion Corey Swatzina took home the biggest honor, winning the 2009 Driver of the Year Award, for dirt racing.


Swatzina was selected among 2000 different drivers based on stats compiled by Brandon Hamilton.


Steve Mortland, Tom Glithero, and Sheree Berg hosted the event. Announcer Kaleb Hart was awarded a plaque acknowledging his dedication to racing, driver Barry Martinez won the Hard Luck award, and track promoter Steve Beitler was awarded the Promoter of the Year Award.
