Skagit Speedway Honors 2009 Champions

Racers, Officials and fans of Skagit Speedway gathered at the Cottontree Inn in Mount Vernon, WA to celebrate the 55th season of racing at Skagit Speedway and to honor the 'Foothills Toyota Tundra Racing Series' track champions. Over $20,000 in cash and product was distributed on Saturday night.
Jesse Whitney and his car owners Rick and Joni Bedker were honored as the Associated Asphalt 410 champions, the second time Whitney has earned top honors in that division.
Brock Lemley and the Kentch Brothers Racing Team took home the top prize from the Budweiser 360 division, the second championship for this combination after previously topping the 410 class.
Kelsey Carpenter was crowned the Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprint champion, earning the highest accolaides in the class for the second straight year.
Cory Swatzina and the Carl's Towing team were crowned Outlaw Hornet champions, the first title for both driver and team owner.
Special accolaides went to Michael Bollinger (Sportsman Sprints), Steve James (360 Sprints) and Kyle Oman / Kelliegh Johnson (410 Sprints) for being Rookies of the Year in their respective divisions.
Ashley Lewellen (Outlaw Hornets), Bill Rude (Sportsman Sprints), Michael Harris (360 Sprints) and Eric Fisher (410 Sprints) were named "Most Improved Drivers".
Cory Swatzina earned "Driver of the Year" honors from Northsound Racing's Brandon Hamilton.
Reese and Virginia Perkins won the second annual "Fred Helde Fan of the Year" award.
Eric Fisher Sr was named the "Car Owner of the Year".
Skagit Speedway maintanence manager Mark Harrison was awarded with the "Outstanding Service" award.
The "Jimmy Collier Outstanding Contribution to the Sport" honor was given to Greg Van Zandt of Van's Equipment.
Finally, the "Sportsmanship Award" went to the memory of Mark Richmond and was accepted by his family.
