Hoosier to Goodyear Tire Phase In Extended

The change over period from Hoosier tires to Goodyear tires will be extended a few more races. "This is a tough year financially for a lot of race teams, we certainly don't want to add to the economic hardship many racers are experiencing" said promoter Steve Beitler, "I have talked to several teams that still have reasonably good Hoosiers left that they could still use. Based on those conversations I feel it is important to extend the phase in period to help our teams with the change over".
The length of the extension will be discussed at the drivers meeting June 5th. For the June 5th event teams may use the Hoosier SC15 or Goodyear 100 or 200 tires on the right rear. Left rears and fronts must be Hoosier or Goodyear.
"I talked with Goodyear about this and they are all for working with the local teams and doing whatever is necessary to minimize the financial impact on the car owners" said Beitler, "Goodyear is in this for the long term, they realize budgets are tight everywhere. Goodyear has provided funding to increase our payouts by $40,000 this year to show their commitment to the race teams".
