Munn Stretches Points Lead

For Skagit Speedway veteran Alan Munn, a season like this has been a long time coming. On Saturday night, Munn won his third race of the year and stretched his points lead in the Budweiser 360 division at ASA member track Skagit Speedway, leading all 25 laps of the main in his Munn Construction #42 XXX. Alan has never won a Skagit Speedway track championship in his 30+ years of racing and will look to bring home his first season title with only one points race remaining. Evan Funk was second in the Jeff Jansma powered #8r Rocket. Danny Kirkpatrick was third in the Jet City Equipment #7k Maxim. Kirkpatrick was quick time. Heat wins went to Mack Brown and Devin Madonia.
Steve Parker shook a 6 season monkey of his back, taking home his first main event victory since roughly late 2005 in the Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprint division. After dominating the Sportsman division in '05, Parker has bounced around divisions, finally landing back in a Sportsman Sprint in '10. After battling mechanical woes, Parker put it all together on this cool August night, leading all 20 laps en route to the win in his Construction Unlimited #23 XXX. Justin Youngquist was second in the Blade Chevrolet #56 XXX. Dylan Dunham was third in the Tib Automotive #7d J&J. Heat wins went to Parker and Paul Burdick.
Travis Jacobson has been on a tear at Skagit Speedway over the past month and continued that tear on Saturday night as he won for the 3rd time this calendar month, leading all 25 laps of the Associated Asphalt 410 main. Jacobson pulled off the elusive clean sweep, setting quick time and winning the heat race as well, driving the Performance RC #8r Eagle. Points leader Jesse Whitney was second in the RPM Rentals #88 Eagle. Jayme Barnes was third in the Jerry Chambers Chevrolet #33 XXX.
In a recurring theme of the night, Wade Swatzina led all 17 laps of the Pull A Part Outlaw Hornet feature. Swatzina was only seriously challenged once, as he fought off a late race attempt on his position by Rick Young. Young took to the inside on a lap 14 restart, pulling even with Wade going into turn one. Swatzina battled back, out powering Young off of turn two as he raced away for the win. Following Young for second was Matt Ploeg, whose third place finish was a career best. Swatzina and Brian Michelson won the heats.
