ALGER, WA -- Two-time Dirt Cup champion Jayme Barnes took home the checkers in the 360 Sprint Car A-Main on May 31 in just his second start at the track in 2014. Barnes endured two multi-car incidents in the first four laps of the race that took out front runners including Eric Fisher, Kelsey Carpenter, Justin Youngquist, Michael Bollinger, Cale Brooke, Steve James and Zeth Custer. The Everett, Washington driver held off charges throughout the race from Brock Lemley but was able to distance himself from the field and take home the win. Lemley and Tayler Malsam rounded out the top three respectively. The Quick Time Award winner was Colton Heath who clocked an 11.729 second lap. Heat Races were won by Justin Youngquist, Cam Smith, and Eric Fisher.

In the Shipwreck Beads Modifieds, Morgan Criswell took home the win on-track Saturday night, but was later disqualified for using an illegal tire. This handed the race win to the 27 machine of CJ Connor, who stole the second position from Graham Cook on a mid-race restart. With racing throughout the field, May 17 winner Craig Moore was able to fight back and finish second after an early-race spin and Seabeck, Washington's James Wolford finished third. Craig Moore won the Modifieds' Heat Race.

Clint Meins took home his first win of our 60th Anniversary season on Saturday after holding off hard, multi-car charges from the likes of Matt Powers, Brian Michelson, and Brandon Berg. With great racing throughout the field, Freddie Vela, who started the race from the 11th position was the Hard Charger, finishing fourth. Matt Powers finished second with Kevin Reuter finishing third.

In the Street Stock's first appearance at Skagit Speedway in 2014, Shane Kerrigan's 43 machine was in the Winners Circle at the end of the night with a shiny trophy and a few new dents on the car. Kerrigan started the race from the third position and quickly set his sights on race leader Mike Knox's 40 machine. As the race went on, Don Briggs reeled in the leaders which made for a spectacular three-car battle for the lead that lasted a number of laps, with Kerrigan making contact with Knox's rear bumper lap after lap. Finally, Kerrigan made a run to the inside down the front straightaway and cleared Knox coming out of turn two. They would continue to battle until Kerrigan took the checkers, followed by Don Briggs and Eddie Blood who rounded out the top three.

Racing this weekend are the 410 Sprint Cars, Sportsman Sprint Cars, USAC Ignite Midgets, and Outlaw Tuners.

Gates open at 5:30pm with racing at 7:00pm.
