SUPER DIRT CUP: Presented by Angel of the Winds Casino Resort
The 53rd Annual Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup Presented by Angel of the Winds Casino Resort is here, and the three days of racing action kicks off Thursday, June 19, and finishes with a $100,026.26mpayday on Saturday, June 21.
The 410 Sprint Cars are back and ready to rip around Skagit Speedway, joined by the NARC King of the West Sprint Cars and some of the top touring drivers in all of Sprint Car racing. James McFadden, Brent Marks, and Justin Peck are ready to take on the Skagit Speedway local hot shots like Trey Starks, Robbie Price, Jason Solwold, and more.
Starks has been on a hot streak to start the year at Skagit Speedway. He leads the 410 points with two wins, four top fives, and four top 10s. Solwold has yet to notch a 410 win this year, but like Starks, he has four top fives and four top 10s. Justin Youngquist and Jesse Schlotfeldt both have 410 wins, and sit in fourth and fifth place, respectively, in points.
McFadden has been on a hot stretch as of late since coming to America to run the Tarlton Motorsports 21. He joined the team at the start of the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports. The Alice Springs, NT Australia native won four of the five races during that stretch leading into Dirt Cup. The only race he did not win was at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, OR, where Schlotfeldt beat him. McFadden finished sixth that night.
His last time at Skagit Speedway was with the High Limit Sprint Car series during the Skagit Nationals. There, he finished eighth on opening night, third on night two, and second on the final night.
Joining the 410 Sprint Cars are the CGE Garage Midgets. Jared Peterson won last year's Saturday night feature after starting on the pole. Through three feature races run, Tristan Thomas has won the two features he has raced in, with Shane Smith winning their opening night feature.
Fans won't want to miss any of the action either in the week leading into Dirt Cup, starting with the Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the Rayce Rudeen Foundation and the NARC King of the West Benevolent Fund on Wednesday, June 18, at Avalon Golf Links. Then, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, come check out the Dirt Cup Kick-Off Part at the Railroad Pub and Pizza, where there will be live music from the Chris Eger Band, Sprint Cars, and more!
Before the gates open on Saturday, June 21, join us at the race track for Fan Fest from 2:00–4:00 p.m., featuring drivers, merchandise, and a live pre-race show with driver interviews. Fans will also have the opportunity to collect Super Dirt Cup Trading Cards featuring drivers who have entered by May 28. These cards will be available for free over the three days of racing while supplies last. Collect all the cards to be entered into a special drawing.
