THORNHILL VICTORIOUS AT SKAGIT SPEEDWAY

Alger, WA - Star Wars Night at Skagit Speedway saw Colby Thornhill put on an out of this world performance in the 360 division for his first win of 2025. Other winners on the evening included Geoff Morris in the IMCA Modifieds and “Subaru” Scott Henry in the Hornets.

Thornhil started on the front row with Colton Heath and it was Heath grabbing the jump on the first start before Brody Ferguson rolled to a stop, bringing on a complete restart. On teh second try, Thornhill beat Colton into turn one and was off, putting distance between him and the lead pack quickly. Tre Starks rapidly advanced his way to second and tried to find forward drive to catch Colby, but never got close enough in clear air or lapped cars to make a move for the lead, as the night belonged to Thornhill with a wire to wire win. Starks took second and Jesse Schlotfeldt ran a strong third. Starks was the fastest qualifier while heat wins went to Heath, Levi Hillier and Thornhill.

Geoff Morris picked up his first victory of 2025 in the IMCA Modifieds. The former track champion took the lead from Ben Gunderson on lap three and held off a strong challenge from Jeff Westergard in the closing laps to hold on to the win. Morris, Westergard and James Bundy made up the main event podium, with Gunderson and Morris winning the heat races.

“Subaru” Scott Henry grabbed his first career win in the Hornet division. Henry was dogged by former track champion Howard Vos for most of the main event but kept him at bay the whole way for the victory. Records are unclear, but it may also be the first win for a Subaru in the 20 year history of the class. Vos would settle for second while Raven Skaugrud was third. Coby Powers and Mike Guffey won the heats.

58 cars signed in for competition with the final checkered flag falling at 9:50pm.
