JOHN CARROLL CLASSIC WIN TO SCHLOTFELDT
Alger, WA - Jesse Schlotfeldt put on a dominant show to win the John Carroll Classic in the Karmart 410 Sprint Cars on Saturday night at Skagit Speedway. Jesson Jacobson won the Sportsman Sprint class while Shane Smith took the season opener for the CGE Garage Midgets. Race action on the night was sponsored by Skagit Farmers Supply Fuel & Propane.
Starting from the front row, Jesse Schlotfeldt put on a show, turning Skagit Speedway into his personal playground as he lapped through 8th place in the 30 lap, $5,000 to win John Carroll Classic. Schlotfeldt spent most of the race with second place a straightaway back in taking his second career Karmart 410 Sprint Car feature win. Jason Solwold made a late race surge to take second while Robbie Price ran third. Heat wins went to Schlotfeldt and Justin Youngquist while Trey Starks was quick time.
Jesson Jacobson was the class of the field in the Sportsman Sprints, completing a clean sweep for his fourth career win. Jacobson ran away from second place Jayden Whitney and third running Peyton Drake to grab the victory. Drake and Macie Logsdon won heat races alongside Jacobson, who tied for quick time with Drake at 12.940 but was awarded the top spot on the strength of his second lap.
Similar to the Sportsman Sprints, Shane Smith pulled out a clean sweep in the season debut for the CGE Garage Midgets. Piloting the Bob & Lori Scott owned #7s, Smith set quick time, went fourth to first in his heat race and led every lap of the main event despite heavy traffic. Following Smith to the win was Alex Peck in second and Nick Evans in third. Smith, Michael Vollbrecht and Ashley Thompson were the heat race winners.
59 cars signed in for competition with the final checkered flag flying at 10:01p.
