FIRST WIN FOR WHITNEY ON FATHERS DAY

Alger, WA - It was a Father’s Day Special on a Sunday Afternoon at Skagit Speedway where 48 cars signed in under sunny and windy conditions. When the dust settled on the day, Jayden Whitney scored his first sprint car win, with Colin Sims winning an abbreviated Hornet A Feature.

The 20 car A Main for the Sportsman Sprints saw the field take on the most dry slick track they’ve seen all year. Whitney tip toed to the lead on lap one, but Dana Glenn got by him down low to take the lead on lap two. Glenn led lap three before venturing to the high side and Whitey took advantage, driving back underneath him for the top spot on lap four. From there, Jayden ran a smart, technically excellent race, never letting the car get out from under him despite the ultra slick surface. Glenn would never get close enough to threaten Jayden for the lead again as Whitney grabbed his first sprint car win, with Dana taking second and Brett McGhie making an impressive run up the field to take third. Glenn set fast time and won his heat race, with the other heat race wins going to Whitney and Macie Logsdon.

The Hornets had a challenging feature with multiple cautions and a two car rollover contributing to a short A Main. Colin Sims led every lap to win the main event, his first of 2025. Howard Vos pressured him but could never get by, running second at the checkered flag with Bryce Kolar driving from 18th to take third place.
