SKAGIT SPEEDWAY WIN FOR SOLWOLD
Alger, WA - On the final night of racing before the Kubota High Limit Series rolls into town for the Skagit Nationals, Jason Solwold scored another feature win in the 360 sprint cars at Skagit Speedway on a scorching Saturday night.
Cam Smith set out to the early lead in the 360 sprint main event, with Solwold and Trey Starks trying to keep pace with him. Smith had firm control for the first 19 laps, but around lap 20, Solwold came alive and started chopping away at the gap between him and the leader. Using the low side of the speedway. Solwold made a move to take the lead away from Smith on lap 24 and would keep it the rest of the way to pick up the victory. Trey Starks made his way to a second place finish, while Levi Hillier completed a late rally for third. Starks was fast time. Hillier won the first heat race while Kai Dixon won heat two.
Steven Hendrickson now has four wins on the year after leading every lap of the Sportsman Sprint main event on Saturday night. Dana Glenn closed at times, but Hendrickson found the right move or caught a caution flag at each opportunity to hang on to the top spot and the eventual victory. Glenn would break in the late stages of the race, advancing Jesson Jacobson to a second place finish and Jayden Whitney to finishing third. Paul Rolo was fast time but saw his night end early with a heat race flip. Hendrickson, Jacobson and Jailynn Serrano won the heats.
Alex Peck finally broke through for a feature win at Skagit Speedway in the CGE Garage Midgets. After multiple podium finishes on the season, Peck took the lead on lap 10 when race leader Shane Smith tangled with a slower car. Peck would drive around the outside and away for the win, while Smith fell back to fourth in the incident and raced his way back up to a runner up finish. Nick Evans was third. Smith was quick time, while heat race wins went to Jonathan Jorgenson, Steven Massingale and Randy Schaaf.
Karmart USA 410 Sprint Cars ran a non-points exhibition to shake down their cars prior to the Skagit Nationals. Trey Starks set quick time, won the heat race and the main event.
