MR. SKAGIT: Rico Abreu Continues Skagit Speedway Domination, Wins $20,000 Prelim from 7th

There's one question circling the Skagit Speedway pit area after both preliminary nights of the Skagit Nationals - how in the world do we stop Rico Abreu?

For the second night in a row, the #24 machine roared from seventh to the lead and ran away with his fourth-straight win at the Alger, Washington track, his fifth score in his last seven tries at Kevin Rudeen's facility.

Shooting to the lead even quicker than he did last night, the St. Helena, California native was already running in a podium spot from the fourth row by Lap 10. He made his winning move on Lap 22 when a thick dose of lap traffic held up early leader Robbie Price and allowed Abreu to circle him on the outside of turns one and two.

From there, Abreu threw the keys on the counter and checked out - crossing the stripe with a 3.081-second advantage over the field. It was his 15th overall win of the 2025 season with eight of those coming in High Limit competition. He extends his mark as the winningest driver in series history, now sitting at 20 career wins.

Abreu easily locked-up high point man honors of the Skagit Nationals, guaranteeing himself a top-four starting spot in Saturday's Dash of the $126,000-to-win program. Securing a spot in the Dash as well was fellow High Rollers Daison Pursley in the Buch Motorsports #13, Justin Peck in the Rudeen Racing #26, and Tanner Thorson in the Rod Gross Motorsports #26.

Following Abreu to the line in Friday's Feature was Robbie Price with a bittersweet runner-up effort. The Canadian led the opening 21 laps of the race but traffic allowed Abreu to run off and force the #21P to settle for a still-impressive career-best P2 for $10,000.

It was a northwest boy rounding out the podium for the second night in a row as Harrisburg, Oregon's Tyler Thompson finished third-from-fifth in the Lemley #13L.

Jason Solwold, Brenham Crouch, Justin Peck, Brent Marks, Danny Sams III, Daison Pursley, and Tanner Thorson closed out the top-10.

Based off the Skagit Nationals event points, Cory Eliason, Jason Solwold, Justin Sanders, and Tyler Thompson are slated to start on the pole of Saturday's Qualifiers. They're set to be joined by Brenham Crouch, Max Mittry, Brent Marks, and Danny Sams III on the outside of the front row. The winner of those Qualifiers will join the lock-in drivers in the Dash.
