TOM BERRY JR WINS THE SURVIVE THE 55

Alger, WA - The 3rd annual Skagit Aggregates Survive the 55 for IMCA Modifieds saw Tom Berry Jr of Marshalltown, IA take home $10,000 in a thrilling A Main event. Trey Starks was the winner of a fantastic 360 Sprint main event as the support division.

In the early stages of the 55 lap main event, Oregon’s Nick Trenchard held the top spot, keeping Berry at bay while Kyle Strickler found his rhythm in the third spot. Berry would slip past Trenchard on lap twenty for the lead with Strickler following in short order. The race went to lap 30 with a single caution flag before the planned break, with Strickler closing hard on Berry just before the break began. After the caution, Berry maintained solid control, only allowing Strickler to close the few times the pair approached traffic. 3 cautions slowed the final 25 laps of the main, with Berry taking advantage of the restart each time to pull away from Strickler as he would take the win and the $10,000 top prize. Strickler was second with Trenchard coming out on top of a through battle for the final podium spot. Ty Clemens and Collen Winebarger rounded out the top five with Tyson Blood, Eston Whisler, Bricen James, Grey Ferrando and John Gaynor making up the top ten.

The fantastic action in the Survive the 55 was equaled by incredible racing in the 360 Sprints. Trey Starks was in full control the whole way, never seriously challenged as he led all 25 laps of the main event to close out 2024 with a victory. Behind him, four different drivers used three grooves of racing to decide the two final spots on the podium. The constant was Jason Solwold, who rolled low early but ventured to the high side late, falling back to fourth at one point but spending the bulk of the race in second or third. Colby Thornhill, Cam Smith and eventually Colton Heath all slid, diced, powered through the high, low and middle grooves with Colton eventually using the middle to secure a second place finish, and Solwold rallying to take third. Thornhill ended up fourth and Smith was fifth. Starks set quick time. Heat winners were Chase Goetz, Heath and Thornhill.
