SKAGIT SPEEDWAY WIN TO SOLWOLD
With Dirt Cup coming to a close and June days waning away, Jason Solwold reminded the field at Skagit Speedway that his Shaylen Raye Motorsports entry was still going to be a threat for every remaining race on the 2025 schedule by scoring a decisive win in the Karmart USA 410 Sprint Cars on Saturday night.
It was an old school Skagit Speedway surface on Saturday night, and Solwold used his experience in running a track like this to his advantage. Starting third, Jason found smooth sailing around the low side of the speedway and rapidly moved from 3rd to 2nd. Race leader Justin Youngquist found lapped traffic just before the mid way point of the main event and Solwold took advantage, short sliding him into turn three to make what was the race winning pass on lap 16. Utilizing the high side to work past a few slower cars, it was all Jason the rest of the way as he grabbed his first Karmart USA 410 Sprint Car win of the year and second victory overall. Cory Eliason and Trey Starks rounded out the main event podium. Starks was quick time. Solwold and Robbie Price won heat races.
The Hornet main was packed full of tight and physical racing. Despite being pressured all race long, Steve Peters was up to the task, taking home the win on the night, his fourth at Skagit Speedway. Bryce Kolar and Howard Vos pressured him all race but settled for second and third respectively. Vos was quick time. Heat wins went to Peters and Jeff Woolsey.
Steven Hendrickson looked like he had his hands full in the Sportsman Sprints main event, as tricky track conditions made it look at times like he was battling an evil racecar. As it turned out, Hendrickson was learning as he went - while leading all 25 laps of the main event, Steven was working his wing slider to find an optimal position for his top wing. His adjustments at times made the car incredibly tight, but he would readjust and hold the top spot in the feature all race long for his second Skagit Speedway win. Jesson Jacobson and Dustin Gehring rounded out the podium. Hendrickson made it a clean sweep of the night by setting fast time and winning his heat race. The two other heats went to Jacobson and Jayden Whitney.
58 cars signed in for competition on the night with the final checkered flag falling at 9:41pm.
